Regarding resident question N3.1 – Mikila Beck to follow up with gas contractors about heavy handed nature of letters being sent out.
|
Stephan Scheiner
|
Copies of the letters have been obtained and will be reviewed by our newly appointed Head of Housing Safety & Regulatory Compliance. The safety of our residents is a key priority for Housing, and gas safety is a critical part of this. We are mindful that the tone of correspondence is important, and we encourage any residents who are experiencing difficulties in providing access to contact us to explain their circumstances. We are committed to working with and supporting residents to ensure their own safety and that of their neighbours. |

David Young to look into waste and recycling collection issues at Sylvan Hall, including the twice-weekly collections not taking place as stated on the website, and missed food collections caused by a build-up of uncollected glass recycling. |
David Young |
Recycling collections are currently taking place twice weekly, on Tuesdays and Fridays. Additional recycling capacity has been provided at The Cedars and Hazelbank. Collection crews have reported that there is very little recycling to collect on Fridays. We would welcome residents' views on whether the second weekly collection remains necessary now that the additional capacity is in place. Food waste collections are scheduled for Mondays. We are not currently aware of any recent missed food waste collections. If residents have experienced any missed collections, please let us know so that these can be investigated. Glass collections take place on Thursdays. Collection crews have advised that access can sometimes be affected by vehicles parked on the double yellow lines on Bromley Road, which prevents them from turning safely. We are reviewing this issue and considering what measures may help improve access for the collection vehicles. |

Harry Williams to send details of how residents can contribute to the Supported Housing Strategy.
|
Harry Williams |
We are developing a new Supported Housing Strategy to help shape the future of supported housing in Brighton & Hove.
The strategy is being informed by a review of current services, existing and future housing needs, and feedback from residents, providers and partner organisations.
We expect to publish a draft strategy for public consultation in late 2026, giving residents and stakeholders an opportunity to comment before a final version is considered by councillors in March 2027.
We will share information on how to take part in the public consultation with Area Panels closer to the time.
